Position Summary
The Executive Director provides mission-driven leadership and oversees the organization’s programs, fundraising, strategy, partnerships, and operations.
The Executive Director will grow revenue, deepen program quality and reach, and strengthen strategic relationships with schools, community partners, funders, and families.
This role is ideal for a collaborative leader with proven success in fundraising, program development, and community relationship management.
The Executive Director works closely with—and is accountable to—the Board of Directors while managing a lean team and a network of volunteers and mentors to deliver high-impact services.
This role may require occasional travel within the Lowcountry region and attendance at youth programs, events, and community meetings.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development (40%)

Develop and execute an annual development plan

Cultivate donor relationships

Manage grant writing, reporting, and compliance

Strengthen donor stewardship systems
Program Building & Impact (25%)

Lead program design and implementation

Ensure measurable youth outcomes

Oversee program staff, volunteers, and mentors
Strategic Planning & Board Relations (15%)

Co-lead strategic planning initiatives

Provide financial and programmatic reporting to the Board

Support governance and committee engagement
Community & External Relations (15%)

Serve as the primary ambassador for the organization

Strengthen community partnerships

Lead marketing and communications strategy
Operations, Finance & Compliance (5%)

Manage budgeting and fiscal oversight

Ensure regulatory and grant compliance

Maintain risk management practices
Required Qualifications
-
5–7 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, youth development, education, or a related field

Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations
-
Experience working with a Board of Directors
-
Strong understanding of youth-serving best practices and child safety protocols
-
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications

Prior Executive Director or senior leadership experience
-
Experience in mentoring-based programs
-
Familiarity with South Carolina nonprofit regulations and funding landscape

Lived experience reflective of the communities served

The Executive Director must ensure comprehensive background checks, mandatory child protection training, and mandated reporting, active supervision of staff and volunteers, and enforcement of safety protocols and codes of conduct.
Compensation
We are committed to equitable and transparent compensation practices.
Full-Time Benchmark Salary:
$63,000 – $81,000 annually
Part-Time Equivalent (20–28 hrs/week):
$31,500 – $44,100
Final compensation will be based on experience and responsibilities.
